BA student job in South Korea for Foreign student
Hello everyone this is Akash. If youre interested in studying in South Korea, in todays blog I want to tell you how foreign students can apply for a part-time job in Korea. Studying in Korea is too expensive so a lot of foreign students try to find a part-time job. In todays blog, I will tell you some important points that you need to know before you come to South Korea.
Point.1 Not allowed to work before 6 months after arriving
First of all a lot of foreign students think that when they come to Korea they can start working in a part-time job immediately. Guys unfortunately like language training causes its not possible.
In fact, in my case I was allowed to work after a few years ago and to be honest because a lot of foreign students come and start like focus on making money work every day, they forget to study hard and then the problem has arisen and new regulation has been created. So from now you cant work before six months after living in Korea.

As you can see in the picture like it is limited for students who like lived in Korea for more than six months. So before coming to Korea you might think I have to reserve the money for a plane ticket and save my school fees and when I will arrive in Korea I will work for like work in a part-time job and get a lot of money.
It is possible to make a lot of money while like studying like Korean language guys if you think like this no no and no because you have to arrive in Korea start your Korean language course and you allow to work after six months.
Point.2 Depending on your Korean proficiency, the time to work is fixed
The second thing you must know depending on your Korean proficiency, it determines the number of hours you can work. See the table below this declaration is actually a law that has been established since June 2019.

What you will see in the table is the limited amount of time you can work during the week depending on your TOPIK score.
To make it easier for you to understand see the table

If you are in a Bachelors degree and you have a TOPIK score you can work 20 hours per week, without the TOPIK score you can only work 10 hours per week.

If its a Masters or Doctorate course and you have a TOPIK score you can work up to 30 hours per week and if you dont have a TOPIK score you can walk only 15 hours per week.
In addition there are no restrictions on holidays and weekends whether you have a TOPIK score or not. So you have to be sure to take about these points and if you broke the rules and you are caught its really a big problem.
Point.3) The fields allowed for employment are set
The next point is the part-time job fields are limited guys you might think if I will come to Korea I will like do a part-time job as a professional researcher or can I do my private tutoring or I heard that in Korea doing private tutoring you can make a lot of money.
Guys if you think like this sorry because unfortunately foreign like student they have a limited like fields where they can work.
Only the part shown here in the table is allowed. For example you can work in a restaurant work in a convenience store work as an ordinary interpreter or translator. You might think because the translation and interpretation is allowed you can do some private tutoring as well no.

As you see in the table that tutoring is not applicable it says that it is strictly limited. Many foreign students are punished for not knowing this so be sure to check it out.
Point.4) You have to get good grade
Guys you have to get a good grade because if you dont have good grades you are not allowed to work.

As if you see the table . If the attendance is less than 70 percent or your GPA is C or less than C which is 2.0. Guys its really hard and to be honest its not only being hard its serious because if your attendance is less than 70% and your GPA is less than C or 2.0.
while extending your Visa they will give you six months instead of one year and you will have to write a letter of apology, saying why you didnt have good grade in this semester and how you will improve your grade in the next semester.
Point 5. You need to apply separately before starting the job
The fifth point is the things to apply in advance. Guys, this point is really really important and look in the table that is the employment process for foreign students.

You must follow this procedure and like lets take a convenience store as an example first tell the owner of the convenience store that you want to get a job then after writing the contract you have to go to the school international student manager and tell him I got a job this is the contract please help me to take care of it, and you will have to report it by yourself on the site called HIKOREA.
So guys, you must go through all these procedures to avoid any problems please follow the procedures.
Question
what happens if you break the rules
Its simple if you violate the law once you will spend the whole year one year without working and if you break the rules two times you will like stop working for two years and if you violate the rule again third times you will not be allowed to work during the whole time.
Like while studying here in Korea and in a case like you are punished for not working one year and then you work illegally and get caught again thats the worst scenario thats the worst case because you can even be deported. So please make sure to follow the rules and be careful and from my experience, I didnt report from like the process, I mentioned in the point five thats why I really really encourage you to follow the rules.
I was suspended the whole year I didnt work for the whole year now its its finished because its last year but please follow the rules and be careful.
Conclusion
So in this blog post, we had time to find out more about how to apply for a part-time job here in Korea, how was it you might think its complicated but no here in Korea, everything is systemized and everything is well established so please follow the rules.
