The offensive line for the Dallas Cowboys suffered a catastrophe on Wednesday

Star left tackle Tyron Smith tore his hamstring during a practise block

Smith had an avulsion fracture in his knee, which causes the hamstring tendon to rupture the bone

He won’t make any appearances this season until December

Smith, 31, has struggled with a series of injuries over the past few seasons

Smith made his debut in 2011 at right tackle

After the roster is reduced to 53 players, Smith most likely will be placed on injured reserve the next week

Smith hasn’t played in an entire season since the 2015 season

The Cowboys now need to decide on their left tackle strategy

From his right tackle position, the Cowboys may move Terence Steele to the left side
